Basic Needs Fund
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, most families are thrust into a situation for which they are totally unprepared. For families who are already struggling to make ends meet, it can be a major financial crisis. It is estimated that as many as 50% of families with children battling cancer will be forced to file bankruptcy.
One Mission issues funding to programs that provide a safety net for families by helping them with the basic necessities that fall outside the scope of health care. Some examples include meal tickets for the hospital cafeteria, parking vouchers and transportation assistance, supermarket vouchers, as well as financial support for families who must take time off from work to be close to their families.
